Farewell, Mr. Haffmann
A Modern Drama about Love and Loyalty By: Jean-Philippe Daguerre Translated by: Eli Bijaoui Directed by: Udi Ben MosheAbout the show
Paris, 1942. Mr. Haffmann, a prosperous Jewish jeweler, understands that his life is in danger and offers one of his employees a trade: he can have the jewelry store in exchange for hiding Mr. Haffmann from the Nazis. But Pierre, the employee, presents a counteroffer: he and his wife, Isabelle, are desperate for a child, but Pierre is infertile; they will hide Haffmann if he agrees to have a child with Isabelle. The play follows the unique relationship that forms between the three characters as the reality of occupied Paris closes in on them.
A contemporary drama offering a humorous, sophisticated, theatrically rich presentation of a compelling moral dilemma, while shedding new light on life during the Holocaust.
