The Servant Of Two Masters
A Comedy by Carlo Goldoni Translated into Hebrew by: Nissim Aloni Directed by: Ariel N. WolfAbout the show
Fifty years after the legendary production of The Servant of Two Masters was staged at the Khan Theater, this classic comedy written by Goldoni in the 18th century, inspired by the tradition of Commedia dell'Arte, is back on the Khan stage in Nissim Aloni's brilliant translation into Hebrew and in a new and wild version.
Clarice's father Pantalone has been planning to marry off his daughter to his business partner, Federico Rasponi. After hearing that Rasponi died in a brawl, he agrees that his daughter marry her beloved Silvio. During their engagement party, just as the agreement between the lovers is being finalized, Truffaldino enters the house. He presents himself as the servant of the supposedly deceased Federico Rasponi, claiming that Rasponi is actually alive and waiting just outside the door.
From here, we are swept into a comedy of errors and entangled events, led by Truffaldino, who juggles between his two confused masters while revealing the truths hidden behind their masks.
